Dale Rogers
I believe in simple truths and enduring value. My work is an exercise in blending graceful, organic style with contemporary flair. My art, sometimes referred to as American Art, is described as sophisticated, thought-provoking and sometimes, humorous.
I began welding full-time in 2002. My interest began years before that though, as I taught myself to repair metal equipment on my family’s farm where I grew up. What was a job, grew into a passion for art. I prefer working with stainless steel and Cor-ten steel and the type of welding is Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG). These metals offer me the flexibility to design creative, high quality and textural pieces that will last for many years to come.
The process for creating my art takes about six months from conception to completion. When an idea comes to me, I think about it for some time before moving to the next step. I complete a sketch and then begin the process of transferring that idea to something that can be created with metal in my studio.
I am honored that my large sculpture enhances public spaces across the nation for visitors to enjoy. Public displays of art inspire people of all ages to think about the world differently. Young people are influenced daily by their surroundings, and art is an integral part of their creative development. Public sculpture evokes an emotional response from all who view it.
