William Donnan
William Donnan, an artist from Franklinville, North Carolina, creates abstract sculptures made from reinforced cement with a monochromatic brown pigmented finish that acts to unify the whole. "I work with imagery derived from natural objects, abstracted to the point where it is not obvious to the viewer whether the sculpture is found or man made."
Donnan has shown his sculptures in outdoor sites for years. During the 1990's, his works were installed on college campuses such as the University of North Carolina in Asheville, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg.
