Melissa Engler

Melissa Engler currently resides in Asheville, NC.

Melissa Engler moved to Western North Carolina from the Canadian Rockies when she was 11 years old. Her mother, a painter, and her father, a mountaineer and photographer, encouraged her creative side from an early age. Her upbringing against the stark landscape of the Rockies gave Melissa a profound respect for the beauty and harshness of the natural world. This appreciation for the fine line between the sublime and the dangerous is the focus of her sculptural work in wood.

Melissa Engler is a graduate of the Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Program in “Wood.” Her work at Haywood was honored with 2 first place awards at The International Woodworking Fair’s “Design Emphasis Competition." Engler is about to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture from UNC Asheville. Her work has been featured in Carolina Home + Garden, WNC Magazine and Woodwork Magazine.
