Description
Farm tables go beyond furniture, serving as the cozy center for gatherings and family memories. Tom Elman’s table, built from alder and pine, incorporates reclaimed wooden columns from a 19th-century building into its design.
Artist Statement
“There’s a piece of me in everything created, and there’s a piece of that art left behind in me every time, too. I feel that every piece should be a celebration, a ritual, a prayer, a dance, or a hymn, in a way that changes you and me and makes the world better for both of us. When I build something from wood, I want the beauty of the wood to glow, to be the messenger. The design then becomes the halo, emphasizing the spirit embodied in that marvelous and beautiful material.”
