Found Object Mandala
Description
Susan Lenz’s fiber and found object mandalas explore belonging, memory, and legacy. Using discarded materials, she uncovers hidden stories in overlooked objects. Hand-stitched paper clips, keys, buttons, and clock parts form meditative patterns on quilt fragments, transforming the ordinary into extraordinary.
Her studio, a renovated church in historic Cateechee Mill Village, sits just outside Central, South Carolina. She sources materials from auctions, estate sales, and contributions from friends and fellow quilters.
Susan’s work has appeared in national publications, juried exhibitions, and renowned craft shows, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Smithsonian Craft Shows. Her pieces are in the permanent collections of the Textile Museum and the Department of the Interior Museum in Washington, DC.
